| 2009-10-13 00:15:58 | The Showers | Don't listen to those people telling you to stop writing. Like safe sex, practice, practice, practice. If you look at your story, you will notice it resembles a wall of words. Now if you look about you for any writing whatsoever, except for a legal disclaimer, or cereal ingredients, you will notice all other writing, especially stories, do not resemble a wall of words. Also, try to mix in a variety of words. Sometimes it is okay to use repeated words, such as Tora, Tora, Tora, but often you will find that using a variety of words improves the flow of the story, and allows you to express more. Love, Mom |

| 2009-10-17 04:38:59 | Eva Survivor | Thank you for the kind and encouraging words (is that you, ma?) I have a story ready to go, but I have to paste it from Word. It's tedious because I use a italics quite a bit, so I have to mark it up everywhere. The story is different in that it has an actual plot, and I wrote it in the first person. The narrative has more color than Eva Survivor, but I'm not sure the characters have quite Eva's presense. I am having a blast writing a new story right now, but I'm not sure it is naughty enough for here, and it is probably too naughty for anywhere else. It's about a boy living through the Great Depression with two certifiably insane parents. It's real gritty, and offers fantastically rich grounds for dark humor. I feel like something clicked with my writing in the story, and I am loving it. I don't know how I will get it on this site. Maybe I will put a disclaimer that the story is plenty naughty, but not good to beat off too. :-) |
