Having accepted that challenge I decided to upset all of my normal conventions. I wanted characters who were older and had the same insecurities we all have, rather than being perfect confident Ken and Barbie clones. To give them such insecurities it was necessary to give both of them physical characteristics that would make them appear "ugly" to the world. These traits aren't subtle, but it's a too short a story to allow for much subtlety with them. Hope this explains the physical flaws of the characters. Thanks for reading! |
