| 2009-06-21 10:01:38 | Hi!! smcaaphd here - I just wanted to address the question left by Wantsomefun: The reason I didn't go into detail as to the punishments Birch suffered at the hands of his fellow inmates was because I felt this would have given some sympathy to him from the readers. He was the aggressor, and detailed descriptions would have turned him into a victim, worthy of such sympathy. When writing the story, I held back a lot on in-depth descriptions on all abuses and tended to merely hint at the abuses he was guilty of and suffered because this was not the point of the story. I didn't want it to become a story about paedophilic acts, nor about prison brutality. We know it happens, we know children are victimised and that those that commit such acts become victims themselves at the hands of others. To go into such detail would perhaps have given people cause to comment about it being yet another paedo story. And it wasn't. It was more exploring the 'public justice' by people who have acc |
