Some advise to "try another hobby," while others think it is a great story. To those who can't figure out if I am illiterate, or not I would point out several things. First Megan's story is the third in the trio of Trucker stories starting with Trucker's Journey, where we meet Megan. You will she is a smart girl with a poor education and a mother who is worse. As such she doesn't speak the "Queen's English." Her speech is an effort to tell something about her character and her education level. You can see her speak, but it is written from Gary's point of view. But this story is Megan's and she is telling it. I wrote it in her character, and believe me it was hard to stay in character. Often I had to go back and re-write because I was writing in normal English when I needed to be in character. I did put the closing note so that those who didn't get it would understand, but I guess they didn't. |
